Photo Appears yellowish in Windows Photo gallery in Vista
The Photo gallery in Vista is a free utility shipped with Windows Vista that helps to view and edit photo stored in your hard drive. This has been replaced by Windows Picture and fax Viewer in Windows XP albeit with lots of added functionalities. This is the default program in Windows Vista to be associated with many image file type like jpg, jpeg, png, tiff etc. On one fine day you bought a new LCD monitor and realized that the photos you view in photo gallery appear with a yellow tint in the background.
Don’t panic as it is not such a grave issue and there is an easy workaround to get rid off this. This issue is generally caused due to an update of monitor driver that changes the color profile in color management settings. The Photo Gallery program uses this incorrect color profile while showing the picture and we see the end result as yellowish tint while viewing the pictures.
The following steps will fix the issue in no time.
1. Right click on a blank area on desktop and select personalize.
2. Click on display settings.
3. Click on Advanced settings and then on Color management tab.
4. Again click on Color management button.
5. Select the option “use my settings for this device“.
6. Check in the list of profile to find any ICC or WCS color profiles.
7. If you find any of them, select and click on remove.
8. Click on Close OK and Ok.
Now restart the PC and try viewing the pciture in Photo gallery again.

Thank you very much for the tip. We’ve been recently looking photo albums on my friend’s computer with Vista installed and photos looked strange, not the way they looked on my PC. Now I know the reason for it:) Thanks again!

this did help!; checking the profiles is something vital i do not know why i did not think of checking that….
however with viewing huge photo’s i get greyish blocks. First time thought something went wrong with the memorycard but it is just the Vista preview….

Thanks, your tip sorted my yellow images out, without them, I would have had to leave them off my site.
Fab work!

Thanks so much for the tip. I noticed this issue when I got my new lenovo a few months ago. I figured it was just a computer issue and not my pictures so I didn’t really worry about it.
But now I know the fix and it was so easy. I absolutely love Vista’s picture editing properties.
