I have installed the SP1 on a few pc’s around my local city of Birmingham, and can say there are some advantages of it. More from the internet side of things, i was finding customers wireless connections were dropping out. etc etc

As for the claim from Microsoft that it will increase PC speed/performance etc. I have not found any circumstance that can back this up. My customers have not found their personal PC’s running any faster than before.

Does anyone else agree or disagree?

Obviously the SP will incorporate security patches etc which will serve to protect vista run PC’s – so there are definately some pro’s for taking the time to install SP1 on a vista machine.

I have’nt installed Vista yet because of some negative reviews. Maybe this service pack will change my mind. Though Microsoft says it will release Windows 7 in 2009.

I have a GPRS Internet connection and I think 65 MB is not that huge.

I’ll sure try to download it at night.

I agree with Andrew why take the risk of messing up a good setup and perfectly working computer, I would consider doing it to install the security patches though.

I like and have read most of your articles. I purchased windows vista and upgraded through the microsoft.com website , I had to contact technical support before making any adjustments.

I brought my copy of windows vista last February. Does this mean SP1 was already installed or do I have to download it from microsoft.com? I am happy with my current setup and would hate to mess things up. Thanks.
