Stop! You’re bringing back bad memories! The funny thing is that I still get one of these every once in a while. Now days, I just replay back with a link to Snopes. I have to warn you, though, if you take the Snopes approach, you won’t be very popular at family gatherings.

Personally, I’ve had 4,5,6,8,9 in my mail box this month.
In fact , TODAY i’ve recieved 4 and 6 atleast 10 times EACH.
It amazes me how people can foward these emails without doing ANY research. I’ve personally tried to explain this to others and it seems a bit fruitless.

I have been the victim of a few of these hoaxes lol. But anyway they can be frustrating, funny or simply criminal. Nice post.

Yeah, this e-mails were really funny. I regret a little that I didn’t received any of them lately. My favorite was one e-mail about a king’s son from Africa how promised to share his fortune with me if I send him some money to leave the country before he is assassinated:)
Comment by Ajay M on 22 December 2007:
Another variant of this king’s son frm SA is secretary of Congo and partner of a very big business….and all these are frm African country…

LOL…. its remind me when I make a fun to one of the scam email from Nigeria whose trying to seduce me to accept their offer for 10 million USD of family legacy… what a carp. I succeed to play around with their phone bills for a couple of hour until they find out I just mess them around… they were so mad and bark at me… but I just make a pity laugh.. gotcha!
Comment by Scary on 8 February 2008:
Great post. I love all these email scares. There’s also a subsection that tell scary stories that are obvious urban legends (like the “Smith Sisters murder” to name just one recent one.
Comment by reviewlutions on 16 March 2008:
gee… why those crocks didn’t give up yet, people become smarter these days, is there any person should fall into those crap… if so, well no pity on them… it is really ridiculous, even my 5 years old nephew could laugh for it.. LOL
Comment by Clement on 20 August 2008:
I have come across most of these emails before but I am reading the “Olympic torch” one for the very first time and I am laughing my lungs out.
Recently, however, there has been an interesting hoax email. The bad boys send emails to people with YAHOO email accounts asking them to update their account information or else the account will be closed. They direct them to bogus site, which they have reproduced from the Yahoo website but it has their website address. The unsuspecting Yahoo account holders usually have no time to check the URL.They just go ahead filling in all their information including their passwords. From there, these bad boys get access to their email accounts and spam their contacts…telling them that I traveled to Africa for a conference and I am stuck. Please send me some money via Western Union. Two months ago, three friends of mine had their Yahoo! email accounts attacked in this way. So beware!
Comment by persianas on 29 January 2009:

That on is quite hilarious.
